The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is an executive leader for the Department of Nursing and a member of the executive management team. The CNO is responsible for developing and executing administrative and organizational strategies to ensure the delivery of high-quality nursing care to our patients. This role requires close collaboration with executive management to fulfill NYCBS’s mission of providing exceptional care through strategic planning, resource management, and continuous evaluation of patient outcomes. Additionally, the CNO is responsible for building strong working relationships with medical staff, clinical leaders, and nursing management across satellite offices.

In this role, you will:
  • Collaborate with governing bodies, executive management, medical staff, and clinical leaders to develop and review NYCBS’s mission, strategic plans, budget, resource allocation, operational plans, and policies.
  • Lead quality and performance improvement initiatives by working with key stakeholders in management, medical, and clinical areas.
  • Design, implement, and assess programs aimed at recruitment, retention, and continuing education of nursing staff.
  • Develop and implement recognition tools for outstanding nursing staff performance.
  • Oversee the evaluation, selection, and integration of management information systems for nursing and clinical areas to optimize resource utilization.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and legislation.
  • Stay informed about healthcare industry trends, legislative changes, and community needs.
  • Determine staffing requirements and staff mix in collaboration with nursing leadership to ensure effective patient care.
  • Plan nursing requirements and staffing for the introduction of new services & locations.
  • Foster collaboration between nursing staff, physicians, and other clinical practitioners.
  • Monitor acuity, staffing, and productivity reports in partnership with Clinical Directors.
  • Work with Nursing Education and Quality Improvement staff to provide clinical education and enrichment for nursing staff.
  • Serve as a mentor, teacher, and resource, while encouraging staff to pursue educational and professional development opportunities.
We require:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a Master’s degree in a healthcare-related field or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is required.
  • Current license as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of New York.
  • Strong understanding of leadership, management, and performance improvement concepts.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategies for improving patient care delivery.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and professional regulations governing healthcare delivery.
  • Demonstrated management skills, including problem-solving, communication, human resource management, and financial stewardship.
  • Progressive leadership experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems is required.

Salary: Starting at $250,000 per year based on experience
