- Manage and process prior authorizations for oncology medications and other specialty drugs.
- Initiate and follow up on appeals with insurance providers when necessary.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of various insurance plans, including Medicare Part D, Medicare Advantage, Commercial Insurances, Medicaid, and Managed Medicaid.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, pharmacy, and insurance companies to resolve
- authorization issues promptly.
- Monitor and track authorization statuses, ensuring timely approvals and updates.
- Educate patients on insurance policies and coverage specifics.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Filling in for Day to Day Pharmacy Technician duties as necessary, will be cross trained to assist in Pharmacy Operations.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret insurance policies and resolve coverage issues.
- Proficiency in documentation and maintaining accurate records.
We require:
Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a specialty pharmacy or related healthcare setting,
- specifically dealing with oncology or other specialty medications.
- Proven expertise in initiating and managing appeals with insurance companies.
- In-depth knowledge of Medicare Part D, Medicare Advantage plans, commercial insurance,
- Medicaid, and Managed Medicaid.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and prior authorization systems is preferred.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required.
